Faster, higher, further.

The HD1 from Wige Media AG.

OB vehicles of the Cologne-based Wige Media AG company can be found on location at most national and international sporting events. To be ready for the broadcast productions of the future, a new television OB vehicle, named HD1, required the very latest technology.

Impressive figures

The company’s choice of mixing console for their new HDTV OB was Lawo’s mc²66. The console has 56 faders and, with its HD core, provides over 300 DSP channels as well as a router with a capacity of over 2,000 physical inputs/outputs. If that isn’t sufficient, the mc²66 also has a split control surface that allows for two completely independent, simultaneous, productions. Six mobile stage boxes are connected via Monomode optical fibre, which allows lossless transmission up to 8 kilometres.

Comfortable and secure

For the first time in a TV OB vehicle, Lawo furnished the HD1 with total remote control of the TV camera mic pre-amps. All the camera’s audio parameters can be modified directly from the console and can be stored in a snapshot; this enables the mc²66 to be reset to match all the settings required for the audio mix.
